Brett Newcomb's 7 Characteristics of the Silent Majority

1.      Do not insist on their own way arbitrarily.

2.      Usually give a reason for disagreement.

3.      Know how to apologize and do so.

4.      Compromise or suggest cooperation.

5.      Share or offer to share later.

6.      Change the topic and redirect the action.

7.      Use humor to defuse and deflect.

Advice for Students when bullying occurs. The steps become more difficult to handle 1-4

1.      Vote with your feet (do not stand and watch another child be hurt, humiliated, or harassed).

2.      Tell an adult.

3.      Invite the victim away.

4.      Tell the Bully to stop.
