Successful Barbeque
Supports Sister Parish Bell Tower
The Bell Tower Barbecue in June was a great success for two parishes: Immaculate Conception in Jefferson City and our sister parish in Peru, San Francisco de Asis.
Organizers reported taht we cleared $8,700, through this effort, involed more than 250 faithful parishoners, and served lunch or dinner to 1,200 hungry mid-Missourians who feasted on the succulent babbecue of Pat Schaefer and friends.
The money was sent to Pisco, Peru, for construction of a new bell tower which will replace the one lost when the church was destroyed in 2007 earthquake and tsunami.
"I was so impressed to see all of the help we had the day of the barbecue," recalled Monsignor David Cox. "It was heartwarming to meet so many of our parishioners working so hard for our sister parish."
Organizers hope to repeat the Bell Tower Barbecue next year, retaining the catchy and meaningful name. But the group will determine what sister parish needs must be addressed with next year's proceeds, after consultation with Father Joes, pastor of San Francisco de Asis.
If you are interested in volunteering to assist with this effort, please contact the parish office. Thanks!
