Parish Council

Our Parish Council is a leadership body that works under the guidance of and in coordination with the pastor to develop and implement a mission-focused pastoral plan and vision. Members are elected by the parish or appointed by the pastor as needed. Elected members’ terms are typically three years in length.

Parish Pastoral Council Elections Nov. 20 & 21!

Each Confirmed parishioner age 18 and over will have the opportunity to vote for up to three individuals to serve a 3- year term. Here are our candidates for terms beginning in January.

Roberta Broeker

I have lived in Jefferson City since 1980 and been a member of IC for about 25 years, serving as a music minister for all of that time. I have participated in Eucharistic Adoration since we opened the Adoration Chapel and am a participant in our recently started Seven Sisters ministry. This is my second year on the RCIA team, and prior to being on the team, I was a sponsor for candidates joining the church.

I am a CPA and spent my career in state government, first at the State Auditor’s Office and then 20 years at MoDOT. I retired in 2018. To me, the most rewarding part of a job is service; knowing you are making a difference in people’s lives. God gives us gifts so we can use them for the benefit of others.

Serving on the Parish Pastoral Council would give me a new opportunity to give back from the gifts God has given me. My favorite volunteer activity is helping at the animal shelter and fostering kittens.

Jeff Earl

I am greatly honored to have been nominated serve on the IC Parish Pastoral Council. Since converting to the Catholic faith and joining the church in May 2020 (yes, in the middle of COVID), I have strived to serve our church and share my faith. Becoming Catholic has had a profound impact on my life and family. My wife Amy converted with me and was baptized with our oldest daughter, Mabry. This past April we welcomed our daughter, Maryn, and has since been baptized.

Since becoming an IC parishioner I have been able to give back by volunteering in several capacities. I currently serve on the RCIA team helping guide catechumens as they discern the faith. This has been an amazing blessing to share with individuals the path that my family took just a few years before. I have also recently been elected to serve as Secretary for the Holy Name Society and recently began the process of joining the Knights of Columbus.

The IC Parish means so much to me and my family and I look forward to the opportunity to help guide its path and continue its mission. I humbly ask for your vote.

Larry Hoffman

I have been a member of Immaculate Conception Parish for over 48 years. My wife, Grace and I have four children who attended Immaculate Conception School and later graduated from Helias High School. I coached basketball at Immaculate Conception School when my children went there.

In 1976 I graduated from Lincoln University with a B.S. degree in accounting. I am vice-president and one of the owners of a local mechanical contractor.

I have fifteen grandchildren and enjoy watching them play sports and spending time with them and my family.

It is an honor to be nominated as a potential member of the IC Parish Pastoral Council. If elected I will do my best to serve the Parish of Immaculate Conception.

Ryan Jennings

I am honored for the opportunity to serve on IC’s Parish Council. My family joined the IC community in 2020 when we moved to Jefferson City due to a move with the Missouri Army National Guard. We have moved about every three years with my military career and the local Catholic Church was the one constant foundation in our family. The strong Catholic community in Jefferson City has enabled my children to thrive as my son attends Helias and daughter attends IC. The IC Parish welcomed my family into their community in which I am very blessed. I wish to serve on the Parish Council to give back to a community that has served my family so well.

I believe that I can help serve the council with my experience in administration and leadership skills that I acquired working 17 years full time with the Missouri National Guard. My education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management.

We are currently living in tumultuous times with secular culture challenging the church morals and a pandemic confronting our daily lives. I believe that our Church has so much to offer those in need and I’m inspired by the faith of the IC community. If elected to the parish council I hope to build upon the strong foundation of community and faith that IC shared with me.

Bill Luebbert

I have been a member of Immaculate Conception parish for nearly 20 years. I grew up in the Jefferson City area attending St. Peter’s grade school and graduating from Helias high school.

My wife Christina and I have two children, Henry and Beth. Both of them attended Immaculate Conception grade school. Henry is a 2019 graduate of Helias Catholic and Beth will be graduating from Helias in May 2022.

I am employed with the City of Jefferson as the Electrical Inspector and currently serve on the Administrative committee here at Immaculate Conception. Additionally, I am a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Pleus Council at Immaculate Conception.

My work career has mostly been in construction and I plan to bring those skills to the Parish Pastoral Council to help with future planning for improvements to the school and church properties.

Larry Miller

My wife, Therese, and I have been members at IC since 1992 when we moved here from Springfield.

Each of our three children attended IC, and we are blessed to be part of this parish. I worked as a federal prosecutor for approximately 30 years before retiring from that position in February of 2021. I am currently a para professional at Lawson Elementary in a classroom for severely autistic children.

I would be honored to serve on the Parish Pastoral Council if chosen.

Susan Pitera

I would like to serve on the IC Parish Pastoral Council because it is a way to use my time, talent, and life experiences to assist our pastor in making decisions that will carry out the parish mission.

Jefferson City is my hometown and I attended St. Peter Church and School. IC has been my parish home for the last 30 years and it does truly feel like home! My husband, Tom, and I have 3 daughters who all attended IC School.

After teaching for 28 years, 22 of those years in Catholic schools of this diocese, I went to work for the State of Missouri. I was with Children’s Division and now work at Dept. of Health and Senior Services.

As a parishioner, I have been a Lector and taught PSR. I am currently a member of the adult choir and the Pro-life Committee. I am involved in pro-life activities such as 40 Days for Life and the March for Life. I enjoy spending time with family, especially our 5 grandchildren, gardening, traveling, and bicycling.

It would be an honor and a privilege to serve on the Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Council.

Jim Rhodes

I was born in Farmington and moved to Jefferson City in my teenage years.

I am married to Linda and we have 6 children, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. We have been members of IC for over 50 years.

I worked for the state of Missouri for over 30 years and for the Cole County Sheriff’s department as a deputy sheriff for 50 years. I am currently retired.

At IC I have worked with the Boy Scouts as Cub Master, attended CRHP, currently am a Hospitality Minister, a choir member, a member of Holy Name, and a member of Knights of Columbus.

My hobbies include acting with local theater, martial arts, hunting (deer, turkey, rattlesnakes, gator, you name it), scuba diving, and metal detecting.

I believe I can add a diverse perspective as a parish council member.

Cyndy Schnieders

I am married to Gary Schnieders for 40 years. We have four children – Bill, Jay, Sally, and Sara –and 10 grand children and six grand dogs. I have been a member of IC for over 35 years (Gary his entire life). Loving God and loving my neighbor are my passions.

Kevin Wisch

I am a life-long member of IC parish. I was baptized, attended grade school, and was confirmed at Immaculate Conception. A 1980 graduate of Helias Catholic High School and a 1984 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, I am a Certified Public Accountant who is semi-retired from N H Scheppers Distributing Company. My wife Karen and I have two grown children and three grandchildren.

In addition to serving as a Home & School Association officer when my children attended IC, I have spent over 20 years on the parish Finance Committee and would like the opportunity to continue to serve this parish community that has been such a positive influence in my life and the lives of my family.

Bill Yarnell

My wife, Ann, and I have been married nearly 62 years. We are fortunate that our three children (Christopher, Robert and Mary Ann) and four of our eight grandchildren are graduates of Immaculate Conception Grade School and Helias Catholic High School.

After graduating from the University of Kansas, my career began with the Missouri Department of Transportation in St. Joseph. My family and I were moved to several different cities - the first to Jefferson City, and by chance, in 1965, we became members of Immaculate Conception.

During our multiple moves, I served on the parish councils of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Sikeston and Sacred Heart Parish in Willow Springs. Each of those were small parishes and had their own unique challenges.

After a second transfer to Jefferson City, we joined Immaculate Conception by CHOICE in 1974, and again after our last transfer in 1996, we became permanent members of Immaculate Conception.

Here at Immaculate Conception, I recently served on the Parish Steering Committee, whose purpose was to develop a long-range campus plan for our parish. This turned out to be one of the most challenging and rewarding projects I have ever encountered, in terms of serving a parish.

I am committed to Catholic education and to our parish, and it would be a privilege to be a part of initiating the future plan for Immaculate Conception Parish.
